The two most common misconceptions about Reiki come from both the religious realm and the scientific realm. First, there is a misconception that Reiki challenges, opposes, or conflicts with a belief in Jesus Christ. Reiki does not oppose, challenge, or contradict the teachings of Jesus. Reiki is in harmony with the love and light that is Christ. The word Reiki means spiritually guided energy (Rei = God’s wisdom, Ki = Life Force Energy). Jesus of Nazareth was a healer, and the Bible is full of stories about his healing miracles, accessing the highest form of love energy – Ki. Or, in other words, the Holy Spirit. Reiki practitioners have access to that same energy, acting as a conduit to channel the energy that comes from the Divine.
The scientific realm frequently dismisses Reiki, and all forms of energy medicine, as nothing more than superstitious nonsense. But Einstein proved that everything is energy. The lower the vibration the more solid the mass, the higher the vibration the less solid the mass, with the highest vibrations being invisible. We use invisible forms of energy everyday – electricity, radio waves, the internet. The medical community has determined that there are electric impulses in our body’s physical systems. We have diagnostic tools such as the electrocardiogram, which measures the electrical activity of the heart. Hence, we do have an energy body, in addition to our physical body. Also, there is a mind/body connection that has been recognized by the medical community for the past several years. We know that stress can cause a variety of physical symptoms including headaches, ulcers and heart disease. The mind, with its higher vibration thoughts and beliefs, will have a definitive impact on the lower vibration physical body. The presence of an energetic body, and its impact on the physical body, cannot be denied.
